SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) Intel Corp. has designed a computer chip that promises to perform calculations as quickly an entire data center - while consuming as much energy as a light bulb. The world's biggest chipmaker said Sunday it developed a programmable processor that can perform about a trillion calculations per second, or deliver a performance of 1.01 teraflops.
Several Clovis Unified athletes have opted to stay in the area after their high school careers.
Four CUSD seniors signed athletic letters of intent for Fresno State Feb. 7. Matt Lindsey of Clovis High and Zak Hill of Clovis West will play football for Zak's father, Pat Hill, at Fresno State, and Alex Jensen and Christine Smith of Clovis West will both play for a Bulldogs' women's soccer team, the reigning Western Athletic Conference regular-season champion.
"[Fresno State] just has a really good soccer program," Smith said. "I've wanted to go there since I was little."
School meal prices may increase by 20 and 25 cents if Clovis Unified's Governing Board approves the changes at its Feb. 14 meeting.
The last time the Governing Board approved a price hike was for the 2003-04 school year. The recent proposal would go into effect in the fall of 2007.
Breakfast would cost students 20 cents more and lunch would increase 25 cents.
District officials say the price increase is necessary because of higher salary and food expenses. The extra revenue and enrollment growth would provide about $350,000 in additional funds.
